I know I’ve been thankful for biscuits before but I’d just like to say I’m thankful for them again tonight. Sliced in half, lightly buttered, broiled just until slightly crispy on top, and smothered in raspberry jam. Hits the spot after flogging my aquafit class.

Gratitude – Day 243
I brought more or less the same lunch and snacks to work today as I did yesterday but somehow I’d eaten it all by 2:30 p.m. and was still hungry. Thankfully I found a granola bar in my desk drawer to fend off imminent starvation. But by the time I got to the gym, I wasContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 243”
Gratitude – Day 242
I’ve never gotten along well with numbers. Many a tear of frustration was shed over math homework when I was a kid. A lack of aptitude created a block which prevented any aptitude from growing which further strengthened the block and so it spiralled. But decent grades masked my difficulties and, like lots of girls with good grades inContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 242”
Gratitude – Day 241
Lunch is packed. Clothes are laid out. Vacation coming to an end, back to work and school tomorrow. It’s been a lovely three weeks with a good mix of domestic productivity and relaxing. Thankful for the opportunity to recharge my batteries.
Gratitude – Day 240
There’s a Septemberish feel in the breeze tonight. Lots of people will mourn the end of our short summer but the fall is my favourite time of year. I look forward to pulling on woolly socks and baking things with cinnamon and hiking without bugs. Don’t get me wrong, summer is lovely, but the olderContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 240”
Gratitude – Day 239
Super lazy rainy day. Once the camping laundry and dishes were done and the tent set up in the spare room to air and dry, I showered off my Smokey the Bear campfire smell and settled into my comfy chair with Moe, coffee and Kobo to finish off my book. (Jonathan Franzen is going soft,Continue reading “Gratitude – Day 239”
Gratitude – Day 238
Spent the night at Porter’s Lake Provincial Park to get a wee taste of camping this summer and try out my new tent. It’s the warranty replacement for my North Face tent that died a premature, watery death during a couple of days of rain on the Magdalene Islands two years ago. If you wantedContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 238”
Gratitude – Day 237
Woke up with a splitting tension headache this morning. Hoped my morning coffee and Tylenol would help ward it off but no, I spent most of the day horizontal and queasy. Started to feel human around 4 p.m. Had to teach aquafit at 6:30 and, as usual when I’m not feeling 100%, I overcompensated andContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 237”
Gratitude – Day 236
I use the smaller of the locker rooms when I teach my aerobics class on Tuesday nights. I rarely have to share it with anyone. I can do my little shower routine uninterrupted and without feeling like I’m hogging the space. Good thing I have a routine, too, always picking a locker in more orContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 236”
Gratitude – 235
My parents could be cat burglars. Seriously. I was lying awake in bed when I heard a voice so quiet it sounded like it was coming from outside. Quiet and familiar. Then Moe jumped from bed and headed to the living room, letting out a little meow of greeting. (A watch cat he is not.)Continue reading “Gratitude – 235”
