Cooking, cleaning, reading, movie, water jogging, nachos and Harry Potter. A good vacation day. Thankful.

Gratitude – Day 224
I dared to use the oven and stove this evening. It’s now 26 degrees in the kitchen/living room. Thankfully, the bedroom gets the breeze and I had the sense to close the door before I started cooking so it’s three degrees cooler in there. I’ve now got a couple dozen banana muffins in the freezer (ok, oneContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 224”
Gratitude – Day 223
Just downloaded a Jonathan Franzen novel from the library to my laptop to my Kobo. I’d heard it’s pretty complicated, sometimes requires library staff help. But it worked on the first try. Yay! Thankful it worked, thankful I can borrow rather than buy, saving me both cash and shelf space, and thankful there won’t beContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 223”
Gratitude – Day 222
For the one tiny chive blossom and the six tiny green tomatoes. For sleeping in and a mostly quiet day. For the new Harry Potter, a very fast read. And for the bed into which I will now pour myself. Grateful.
Gratitude – Day 221
Exam #11 done. And with the excitement of a real fire alarm in the middle of it! The alarm didn’t phase me, perhaps because I could only hear it dully through the earplugs I always wear to tune out the clackety clack of 35 sets of fingers tickling keyboards, and occasional coughing, fidgeting, hushed questions toContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 221”
Gratitude – Day 220
Ready, setty, spaghetti. Let’s write this exam. I can tell you about reliability, replicability and validity in quantitative research, and aspects of trustworthiness in qualitative. I know the three criteria for causality. I can explain methods of probability sampling, confidence levels and intervals, and statistical significance. I can talk about grounded theory and ethnography and codingContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 220”
Gratitude – Day 219
Looking around the classroom today, I saw some freaked out faces and talked to some freaked out fellow students. Sometimes I’ve been nervous arriving at the classroom session of a course after a few months of distance learning. Especially for the first few courses when I was feeling my way around. But I was never categoricallyContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 219”
Gratitude – Day 218
Oh it’s Friday night but it’s not Friday night. Because tomorrow morning, I don’t get weekend. My Friday night will come on Monday after two days in class and an exam. On the up side, the weekend that follows will be three weeks long. Thankful it’s almost here.
Gratitude – Day 217
I’ve been teaching fitness classes for nearly 20 years. Most of that time, I had a few days between the two classes per week that I taught. Now, I’ve got classes two nights in a row and I feel the wear and tear. Mostly on my voice. By Thursday morning, I sound like a six-pack-a-day smoker. IContinue reading “Gratitude – Day 217”
Gratitude – Day 216
For the foresight to make and package up pasta salad in single servings on Sunday evening so that I could have quick meals to grab on my busiest days, I am grateful.
